The Pavilion

The Pavilion

The Pavilion is a striking new multi-function community centre, which serves as the social heartbeat of the village. Designed by Peddlethorp, its distinctive architecture delivers residents a comprehensive hospitality and leisure offering positioned uniquely overlooking the lakes. The Pavilion features a café, brasserie and lounge bar, a versatile function space for events and performances, library and billiards room. The wellness suite offers a salon, nail spa and treatment room.

WAI CAFÉ & BRASSERIE

At the heart of the village sits Wai Café & Brasserie - a place designed for everyday connection. From the first coffee of the morning to relaxed evening dining, this is where residents naturally come together. It is a space that supports pause, conversation and shared moments, without the need for a special occasion.

The restaurant and bar occupy the Pavilion’s north wing and enjoy an elevated outlook across the lakes. Alongside the main dining areas, adaptable spaces - including the light-filled Winter Garden and the Terrace with its louvred ceiling and outdoor fireplace - cater to both intimate moments and larger gatherings. Wai also features a stunning grand piano, offering the option of live music to enhance the dining experience.

It is an environment that exudes warmth, with natural timbers, dappled light and considered textures creating a luxurious yet humble atmosphere. Every detail, from the fluted timber panelling to the refined metalwork and inlaid tables, contributes to quiet refinement without pretension.

The name Wai and its identity are inspired by the deep connection Tauranga Moana people share with the sea. Wai, meaning water, reflects the natural flow from Mangatawa maunga to the sea, a reminder of how water nourishes the land, the people, and their taonga tuku iho [treasures handed down through generations]. This sense of flow and connection underpins the identity of the space.

Relaxing Spaces

At Pacific Lakes, every space is thoughtfully crafted to help residents unwind and connect. Whether you’re curling up with a book in the Library, trying your hand at a friendly game in the Billiards Room, exploring your creativity in the Art Studio, or finding a quiet moment in one of the shared lounges, there is a space for everyone.

Pacific Lakes offers a beautiful collection of spaces designed to enrich your day, support your wellbeing, and foster a strong sense of community.

Wellbeing Facilities

For those seeking a touch of indulgence, the Wellness Suite within the Pavilion offers residents a dedicated space for self-care and relaxation, complete with a Nail Spa, Salon and Treatment Room. The beautifully appointed Salon features two hairdressing stations, along with a dedicated nail spa chair designed for comfort and support during treatments.

The Consultation Room welcomes a range of visiting specialists and wellness services, including physiotherapists, podiatrists, massage and beauty therapists, providing residents with convenient access to a comprehensive selection of care and wellbeing services.

LEISURE FACILITIES

Pacific Lakes Village offers a wide range of outdoor leisure and activity facilities, including a full-size green-weave bowling green, dual pickleball and tennis courts, and a pétanque area for both casual play and friendly competition.

The Village Common provides a tranquil, park-like setting, with thoughtful planting and bench seating inviting residents to enjoy time outdoors at their own pace. Within this space sits the Atrium and Community Garden, designed as flexible and welcoming areas - whether residents are enjoying a cuppa with a neighbour or simply spending time quietly on their own.

LAKE HOUSE

Complementing the Pavilion, the Sumich Chaplin–designed Lake House is exclusive to Pacific Lakes Village residents and offers sweeping decks and a lakeside barbecue area, creating an inviting setting for gatherings, events and relaxed socialising.

Lake house

Pacific Lakes not only has its own extensive facilities but additionally benefit from a reciprocal arrangement with Pacific Coast Village, whereby many facilities can be accessed by residents of both villages. Patronage is regularly monitored to ensure the enjoyment and use of the respective village residents is preserved.
